Exciting career opportunity to work in an innovative, professional, specialist Domestic and Family Violence organisation.

Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) is a community organisation providing crisis intervention, follow-up and case management supports and services to all people affected by domestic violence in the ACT. The priority of our Service is for the safety of the people who have been subjected to domestic or family violence, recognising that the majority are women and children.

Women & Children Practitioner

Duties

Service Provision: In a co-operative team environment and in line with DVCS Vision and Objectives and in accordance with Policies and Procedures of the Service, Women & Children practitioners will:

• work with women and/or children who have been subject to violence and/or other controlling behaviours
• provide case management to women and/or children with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy
• conduct comprehensive risk assessments and undertake safety planning as part of a comprehensive case management plan
• network with multidisciplinary services and agencies to build and foster relationships with key stakeholders
• maintain accurate client records and prepare reports as required
• work within a small team environment and be available to work outside of normal business hours

 

All applicants must meet and address the following Selection Criteria

• Tertiary or other relevant training in social/ human services and/ or a minimum of five years demonstrated experience in direct client case management and/or crisis intervention
• Current Working with Vulnerable People Card
• Current driver’s licence
• Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and the issues that face people who are affected including women and children with complex needs who require a range of service system responses
• Demonstrated understanding and experience in case management of people with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy
• Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
• Availability to work outside of standard business hours if required

 

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the SCHCADS Award levels 5 to 6 plus super and salary packaging. Salary commensurate with qualifications, demonstrated skills and experience.
