Legal support & advocacy

We offer support and advocacy to help you navigate legal systems.

Court Advocacy Program

Our team can help connect you with legal support and provide information and advocacy during court processes.

DVCS’ Court Advocacy Program provides support, information, advocacy, safety planning and referrals during the court process for those that have experienced domestic and family violence. We can provide information about what will happen and what to expect if you need to go to court

Our Court Advocacy Team can help with:

  • Applying for family violence orders.
  • Connecting you with solicitors and offering support during meetings.
  • Writing victim impact statements for the sentencing process of criminal matters to ensure your voice is heard.
  • Helping you understand and prepare for hearings, giving evidence, and the overall court process.
  • Providing referrals to other support services as needed.

Family Violence Intervention Program

We also offer support by tracking criminal cases through our Family Violence Intervention Program.

If the person using violence against you has been charged, our team can provide updates to you on the case, directly via phone. Our team will also discuss safety measures and consider providing referrals for additional support services if needed.

Our Criminal Justice Advocates will keep you informed and supported throughout the entire court process.
