Part time and Casual


Service Provision: In a co-operative team environment and in line with DVCS Vision and Objectives and in accordance with Policies and Procedures of the Service Crisis Intervention Team Members will:

  • Attend Domestic Violence crisis calls in accordance with DVCS – Policy Guidelines and provide crisis intervention services as required, which may include:
  • assessment of safety issues;
  • personal and immediate practical support, referral and advocacy;
  • information such as legal options, accommodation, income support, counselling services, health services and children’s safety.
  • Respond to crisis telephone calls – provide crisis counselling, personal support, information and referral on matters related to Domestic Violence including legal, accommodation, income support, counselling services, health services and children’s issues
  • Provide follow-up and advocacy services to people affected by domestic violence as required;
  • Provide individual support and information to clients through legal processes including paralegal support as required
  • Liaise and network with relevant government and community agencies as required including Police, Legal Aid, Courts and refuges
  • Develop case plans with clients in accordance with DVCS case management (support planning) approaches and implement decisions
  • maintain accurate client records and prepare reports as required
  • work within a small team environment and be available to work 8 hours shifts between the hours of 8am to 11:30pm
  • Casual staff must be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts a week



All applicants must meet and address the following Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary or other relevant training in social/ human services and/ or a minimum of five years demonstrated experience in direct client case management and/or crisis intervention
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conceptual skills, with sound analytical and problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis and referral work including telephone crisis work and the ability to make sound judgements and appropriate referrals in crisis situations
  • Well-developed crisis counselling skills
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in case management of people with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work on a rotating shift roster including weekends and evenings


Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the SCHCADS Award levels 5 to 6 plus super and salary packaging. Salary commensurate with qualifications, demonstrated skills and experience.
