Online: Responding to someone experiencing domestic and family violence

Learn more about how to appropriately and positively respond to someone who discloses their experience of domestic and/or family violence. How to ask, how to respond and where to refer people, in addition to looking after yourself.

This session is suitable for anyone within the community, but particularly helpful for friends and family members of those experiencing domestic and family violence, managers, business owners, coaches, leaders and those working in the health and education professions.

Safety Planning & Risk Management (DFV) Training

This session will provide a quick recap of our Domestic and Family Violence Training, provide an understanding of the impacts of intersectionality on people experiencing domestic and family violence, a better understanding of risk assessment, red flags and more information about safety planning.

This session is ideal for people who have already attended our Domestic and Family Violence Training or who already have a solid understanding of the dynamics of domestic and family violence.

$230 per person (including GST, plus booking fee) for community members, including those working within the community sector

$250 per person (including GST, plus booking fee) for all others

All registrations include morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and parking. Parking is available to participants at East Hotel Parking off Oxley Street.

Domestic and Family Violence Training (March 2022)

A one-day education session held three times a year covering:

  • dynamics of domestic and family violence
  • how you can respond to and support someone, including safety planning, and
  • how DVCS engages with the domestic and family violence landscape in the ACT.

This is suitable for people working within the community, legal, medical and allied health, education, public service and private sectors.  It is particularly relevant for those working in human resources or any type of management role.
