Support Groups

Support groups provide an opportunity for people to discuss their experiences with others who have been through similar circumstances and to learn from each other. We offer a variety of support groups led by experienced facilitators and professionals.  All our groups are free of charge.

 

Groups for Women

Moving On
"I’d felt like I was the only one and that I was to blame. It was so empowering to meet others, to realise it’s not my fault, and there were people I could talk to about it."
Who:

For women ready to develop strategies and personal resources to help them move on after domestic and family violence, while learning from and supporting each other.

Held over eight sessions, this group supports women to explore their sense of self and grow their social skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Where:

The location of this group changes each term.

When:

Term 2 – 2019: Weekly on Wednesdays commencing 8 May and concluding 26 June

Groups for Children

Growing Strong
Who:

The Growing Strong support group program aims to support safety and recovery by enhancing the mother-child relationship, and facilitating mothers to support their children in healing after domestic violence.

There is a group for mothers who’d like to explore experiences of parenting and family after domestic and family violence and regrowing family safety and connections and one for children aged 9 to 12 years, who’d like to get together with others who know the journey too.

When:

Term 2: Wednesday 1 May 2019 and runs for ten weeks.
