Exciting career opportunity to work in an innovative, professional, specialist Domestic and Family Violence organisation.

Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) is a community organisation providing crisis intervention, follow-up and case management supports and services to all people affected by domestic violence in the ACT. The priority of our Service is for the safety of the people who have been subjected to domestic or family violence, recognising that the majority are women and children.

DVCS is undertaking its biannual recruitment process. We are currently seeking applicants for roles in both crisis intervention (casual positions only) and case management (part-time or full-time positions).

All applicants must state what position they are applying for and meet the following Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary or other relevant training in social/ human services and/ or a minimum of five years demonstrated experience in direct client case management and/or crisis intervention
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Current driver’s licence

Case Management roles are available in our specialist Women’s and Children Program and in our specialist Men’s program. Applicants interested in Case Management must address the following case management selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in case management of people with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy
  • Demonstrated conceptual skills, with sound analytical and problem solving ability
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and the issues that face people who are affected
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work outside of standard business hours if required

Crisis Intervention roles work with all people affected by domestic and family violence within the ACT. Applicants interested in Crisis Intervention must address the following crisis intervention selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in crisis and referral work including telephone crisis work and the ability to make sound judgements and appropriate referrals in crisis situations
  • Well-developed crisis counselling skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and the issues that face people who are affected
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work on a rotating shift roster including weekends and evenings.

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the SCHCADS Award levels 5 to 6 plus super and salary packaging. Salary commensurate with qualifications, demonstrated skills and experience.
